How to Add an Admin to Your Valheim Server

ValueGameNode 14

Adding an admin to your Valheim server gives that player access to in-game commands, allowing them to manage the server by kicking, banning, or using other cheat commands.

Step 1: Get the Player's SteamID64

First, you need the unique SteamID64 of the player you want to make an admin.

  1. Ask the player for their Steam profile URL.

  2. Go to a website like steamid.io or steamidfinder.com.

  3. Paste the player's Steam profile URL into the search box.

  4. Copy the steamID64 number that the site provides. It will look something like this: 76561198012345678.

Step 2: Add the SteamID64 to the Admin List

  1. Log in to the game panel: Go to game.valuegamenode.com and log in.

  2. Select your Valheim server from the "My Servers" list.

  3. Navigate to the File Manager: Select "File Manager" from the left-hand menu.

  4. Locate the adminlist.txt file:

    • The file is located at the following path: /.config/unity3d/IronGate/Valheim/.

    • Inside this folder, you will find a file named adminlist.txt. If it doesn't exist, you can create it by clicking "New File".

  5. Edit the file:

    • Click on adminlist.txt to open it.

    • Paste the player's SteamID64 into the file.

    • If you are adding multiple admins, place each SteamID64 on its own line.

  6. Save the file: Click the "Save Content" button.

  7. Restart the server: For the changes to take effect, you must restart the server. Go to the "Console" page and click "Restart".

The player is now an admin and can use console commands (F5) in-game, such as kick [name], ban [name], and god.
