Automating your server management is key to maintaining performance and ensuring your data is always safe. Using the Schedules feature in the VGN Game Panel, you can set your server to restart at specific times or create backups automatically.
Step 1: Create a New Schedule
- Log in to your VGN Game Panel.
- Select your server.
- Click on Schedules in the sidebar.
- Click the Create Schedule button.
Step 2: Configure the Timing
You can set when the schedule should run using a Cron-like format:
- Minute/Hour/Day: Set these to your preferred time (e.g.,
0for Minute and4for Hour will run at 04:00 AM). - Schedule Name: Give it a clear name (e.g., "Daily Restart" or "Midnight Backup").
- Click Create Schedule.
Step 3: Add Tasks to the Schedule
Once the schedule is created, you need to tell it what to do:
- Click on your new schedule.
- Click New Task.
- Action: Select "Send Power Action" for restarts or "Create Backup" for backups.
- Power Action (for restarts): Select "Restart".
- Click Create Task.
Best Practices
- Restarts: We recommend restarting your server once every 24 hours to clear up RAM and keep things running smoothly.
- Backups: Schedule backups at times when few players are online.
- Offsets: If you have multiple tasks (e.g., a message warning players before a restart), use the Time Offset setting to delay the restart task by a few minutes after the warning.
