Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) adds a crucial extra layer of security to your account. It requires you to provide a second form of verification—in addition to your password—to prove your identity. By enabling 2FA, you significantly reduce the risk of unauthorized access to your account, even if someone discovers your password.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, you will need:

• Access to your ValueGameNode account.

• A smartphone (iOS or Android).

• An authenticator application installed on your smartphone. We recommend one of the following:

  • Google Authenticator (iOS / Android)

  • Microsoft Authenticator (iOS / Android)

  • Authy (iOS / Android)

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Navigate to Your Profile

First, log in to your account and go to your profile settings.

1. Open your web browser and go to the client panel: https://valuegamenode.com/client

2. Log in using your credentials.

3. Once logged in, navigate directly to your profile page: https://valuegamenode.com/profile

Step 2: Locate the 2FA Section

On your profile page, scroll down until you find the "Two Factor Authentication" section. Click the button to begin the setup process, which is typically labeled "Enable 2FA" or "Setup Two-Factor Authentication".

Step 3: Scan the QR Code

A QR code will be displayed on your screen. You need to scan this code with your authenticator app.

1. Open the authenticator app on your smartphone.

2. Select the option to add a new account (this is usually a '+' icon).

3. Choose the option to "Scan a QR code".

4. Point your phone's camera at the QR code on your computer screen.

Your app will automatically recognize the code and add your ValueGameNode account to its list. It will then start generating 6-digit verification codes that change every 30-60 seconds.

Step 4: Verify the Code

After scanning the QR code, the website will ask you to enter the 6-digit code currently displayed in your authenticator app. This confirms that you have successfully linked the account.

1. Look at the 6-digit code for your ValueGameNode account in the authenticator app.

2. Enter this code into the verification field on the website.

3. Click "Verify" or "Enable".

Step 5: Save Your Backup Codes

This is the most important step. After enabling 2FA, you will be shown a list of backup codes. These codes can be used to access your account if you ever lose access to your smartphone.

1. Copy and save these codes in a secure location. Do not store them in a plain text file on the same computer you use to access your account.

2. Good options for storing backup codes include:

   • A password manager (e.g., Bitwarden, 1Password).

   • A printed copy stored in a safe place.

   • A secure USB drive.

3. Once you have saved the codes, check the box to confirm that you have stored them safely and complete the process.

Warning: If you lose your phone AND your backup codes, you may be permanently locked out of your account. Treat your backup codes with the same level of security as your password.
