What a Minecraft MOTD is

The MOTD (message of the day) is the short description that appears next to your server in the player's multiplayer list. It is the first thing a player sees before joining, so a clear, inviting MOTD makes your server stand out. It is set on the motd line of server.properties.

Colours and formatting
